He needs it because so far he’s less convincing than a Kerri-Ann Kennerley presentation at critical race theory conference.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has signed up to an 8-week NIDA acting techniques class in the lead-up to the May election as a desperate attempt to trick the electorate into thinking he actually wants banking reform. Given the Liberals have been running interference for the banks ever since the Big Bang, he’ll need to act his socks off.
Still, his prospective acting teacher Betty Nougat remains optimistic that the course, which develops a “broad range of fundamental acting skills through fun and interactive acting exercises” and explores “improvisation, spontaneity, physicality and the basics of the Stanislavski system”, will be just what Mr Frydenberg needs to sound less like a pathetically opportunistic politician who’d turn against his own mother if he thought it might help him win an election.
The Stanislavski technique is all about helping actors create believable emotions and actions in the characters they portray.
Situation Theatre has obtained a pre-course questionnaire which the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party completed based on the Stanislavski method.

1. Who Am I?
“The Treasurer”, but I’d feel more at home playing a junior telemarketing salesman.
2. Where Am I?
Well I’ll be at work for 10 days in the first 8 months of 2019 but apart from that you can find me on a lilo in the pool reading a copy of “How to be a Liberal and Live with Yourself”.
3. When Is It?
The 1950s.
4. What Do I Want?
To convince Australians that even though my government voted against a Banking Royal Commission 26 times, we’re bloody furious about the rotten financial system. Ultimately, what I’d really like is to desperately cling to power.
5. Why Do I Want It?
Lack of empathy, imagination, meaningful alternative job opportunities which don’t destroy people’s lives.
6. How Will I Get It?
Propaganda, mostly.
7. What Do I Need To Overcome?
My indoctrination as a member of the Liberal Party and dismal acting skills.

This method has helped millions of acting students around the world to be more believable but, truth be told, some students are beyond help.
