Conveniently for the ALP dirt unit, much of Scott Morrison’s filth is out in the open.
Following the NSW Liberals’ successful election eve dissemination of Michael Daley’s closet racist video, the Australian Labor Party plans to remind Australians what an open racist looks like in the closing days of the current campaign.
The key problem for Labor strategists, apart from their own execution of and complicity in anti-Muslim refugee policy, is which video to emphasise.
Should it be the one which features Morrison’s aggressive direct message to asylum seekers, a message which award-winning author and Manus prisoner Behrouz Boochani has linked to a riot on Manus and ultimately the death of Reza Barati?
Or the one in which he refused to apologise to Save the Children for falsely claiming they were encouraging asylum seekers to self-harm?
Or the one in which he was forced to apologise for criticising Labor for flying asylum seekers to funerals in Sydney to mourn their dead relatives?
Or the one shortly after the murder of 50 Muslims in two Christchurch mosques by an Australian white supremacist in which he slandered refugees as rapists, paedophiles and murderers?
Or perhaps the one in which after ten years of explicit and tacit Islamophobia he refused to admit it was a problem for himself or his party?
While proponents of humanity would expect such videos to effectively turn off large swathes of the electorate, Labor insiders are concerned these clips won’t have quite the same punch as the Daley one.
It seems some types of racism are more equal than others.
