PM will redirect billions of dollars away from schools, hospitals, welfare, natural disaster relief, and climate action to sort out the emergency issue of boat permits.
By now it’s clear that whatever Donald Trump does, Scott Morrison will follow it up with a piss-weak Aussie version.
It started with the cringe-worthy hats and the embassy move to Jerusalem, continued this week with a campaign of scare tactics and outright lies around refugees including Trump’s language of rapists and paedophiles, and culminated today with the announcement of a bogus national emergency.
Just hours after Trump declared his national emergency, which will divert billions to build his US-Mexico border wall, Morrison noticed an unauthorised maritime arrival during his morning walk along Canberra’s most famous lake. The paddle-boat clearly had more passengers than allowed by the Lakes Ordinance 1986.
As a result, Morrison called a snap press conference to say that this was clear evidence of a national emergency. He argued that billions would be needed to deal with the new wave of illegal maritime arrivals triggered by Labor’s reckless support for legislation which makes it harder for the government to kill sick refugees.
The PM is confident that a boat-based scare campaign is his path to election victory in May, a propaganda campaign so patently fraudulent even small children are saying “Mummy, isn’t the shouty man with the hat full of shit?”
