Nearly half of voters are keen for more paedophile protection, hate speech, white supremacy, banking corruption, wage stagnation, domestic violence, suicidal children, expense scandals, disability abuse, refugee torture, and climate destruction.
A much higher than expected proportion of the Australian population are apparently gluttons for punishment because after witnessing six years of social and environmental destruction, they reckon three more years of that would be just the ticket.
These voters are gunning for fewer forests, animal and plant species, buses, trains, affordable houses, schools, and hospitals, ABC shows, homeless shelters, women’s refuges, and non-Murdoch media outlets.
The Newspoll shows the Liberals trailing 48-52% but the real news is that somehow the Liberals are polling at more than 1%.
If a poll emerging from a Murdoch paper is to be believed, it seems that millions of the nation’s voters would like to see the Libs kill off the reef sooner rather than later, speed up those lacklustre rates of species extinction, and dry up a few more rivers, lakes, and sources of funding for essential services.
It seems about 7 million voters will head into the polling booth on May 18 and vote for the Hobbesian war of all against all.
