The Australian Defence Force has reported a massive influx of baby boomers.
An ongoing nationalist propaganda campaign from the ABC, which reminds viewers every 7 seconds which country they belong to should WW3 break out, is driving the average age of enlistments in the ADF through the roof.
In his 1983 book Imagined Communities, political scientist and historian Benedict Anderson discussed the origins of nationalism. He emphasised the importance of media in constructing and reinforcing this imagined national community by using repeated images targeted at a mass audience.
Despite the obvious efforts of ABC management to at least portray a multicultural brand of nationalism, surveys have still found a sharp rise in the number of viewers who would be happy to go to war against and kill anyone who is not Australian.
Not everyone is joining the ADF as a result of the relentless ABC campaign. Shortly after a segment on Mad As Hell in which host Shaun Micallef mentioned an app with an alarm giving you 10 seconds to get out of the house before that damned ad comes on, the ABC website crashed from the number of viewers trying to download the joke app.
