A harsh analogy for the struggling firework.
A Sydney fireworks manufacturer has taken issue with a Sydney artist for the immense reputational harm done to its “Fizza” firework after being visually linked with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
The artist, Michael Agzarian, has been postering the image on walls in Sydney to show that the Turnbull government has “failed to deliver, whether it’s the environment, education or the NBN, he’s turned out to be a real fizzer.” Agzarian said he was inspired by Paul Keating’s comments about Mr Turnbull: “You light him up, there’s a bit of fizz, and then nothing...nothing”.
The CEO of Sparks And Beyond, Nathan Firework (it’s amazing how often surnames match occupations!), claims this is a grossly unfair comparison.
He said “We market the ‘Fizza’ as a boutique firework for those masochistic customers who seek disappointment. We’re open about its failings. Now that our ‘Fizza’ has been publically linked to a more clandestine and craven kind of disappointment, well that’s just bad for business.”
