On Tuesday Brandis raided the Australia Council to create his own Arts Empire, dipping into his dog-eared government instructional manual 1984 to invent the National Programme for Excellence in the Arts.
Today the Attorney-General announced he’ll spend that money on a partnership with Wizard of Oz creator Andrew Lloyd Webber to craft a musical creating the illusion that Brandis understands his own data retention legislation. Knowing Webber’s awesome powers of turning banal phrases into moving ballads, “Identity of Subscribers”, “The Source”, “Time”, “Duration”, “Destination of Electronic Communications and “Location of Mobile Equipment” are all bound to be absolute tearjerkers.
Audience members will be required to keep these catchy show tunes in their heads for at least two years.
Apparently it will cost $104.7 million over four years to convince taxpayers that Brandis knows the meaning of the word “Internet”.
