The heart of the Coalition's faith-based approach to climate destruction.
Now that the Great Barrier Reef is about as white as the Liberal frontbench, the government has decided to offload the moribund national icon – the reef, not Tony Abbott – to New Zealand.
In keeping with New Zealand’s history of offering refuge to the victims of the Abbott/Turnbull government, our neighbours across the Tasman plan to spend the $10 billion needed over 10 years to restore the reef to full health.
Freed from the burden of looking after the world’s largest coral reef, the Liberals will now use the money raised from selling the reef to create the world’s largest school chaplaincy program.
From 2017 there will be 11 school chaplains in every classroom in Australia. Most of their time will be spent counselling students who are fearful of the devastating impacts of climate change.
