The Labor Party has become the Liberal Party and the Liberal Party has lost its tiny hive mind.
Getting in early for the 2019 Darwin Awards, Labor Party strategists have chosen the political moment in which voters are armed and ready to massacre the Federal Government at the ballot box to photocopy Liberal policy on a range of issues.
The latest imitation is their decision to hop into bed with the government on a new bill to give law enforcement agencies access to encrypted communication. The Greens digital rights spokesman, Jordan Steele-John, said “not only will this terrible legislation infringe on the rights of every Australian, but will make it easier for sensitive info to be hacked and/or exploited”.
Surprisingly still sitting upright in the chamber after so many spineless statements and decisions, Labor politicians have in recent times said the Adani mine won’t contribute to Australian emissions, made the National Energy Guarantee their climate policy, refused to resettle refugees on Nauru and Manus in Australia, promised to stop the boats, advocated boat turnbacks, accepted political donations from fossil fuel companies, supported increases in arms exports, backed rafts of legislation transforming Australia into a police state, backflipped on their opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), and voted down a motion for stronger lobbying laws.
Now they’ve adopted the NEG they may as well go full Liberal Implosion and depose Bill Shorten.
It’s like Labor saw the free-fall ratings of Ben Elton Live From Planet Earth and thought “I know, let’s make a show called Ben Elton Live From The World”.
