Another International Women’s Day, another heinous confirmation of the Australian patriarchy.
Barnaby Joyce and Scott Morrison have taken the golden opportunity to make the one day of the year dedicated to honouring women all about men, specifically them.
The former Deputy Prime Minister decided it was a good time to say he’d love another crack at the Nationals’ leadership, really just pissing all over sexual assault victims everywhere who know just how hard it is to bring perpetrators to justice.
Meanwhile complainant Catharine Marriott may have had her name leaked to the media and waited eight months for no result from the National Party investigation into her case, but at least on this special day the Prime Minister almost avoided saying something offensive about women.
Scott Morrison took the chance to express his fears that the rise of incredibly capable women would endanger the careers of astonishingly incompetent men who pool like scum at the top of the diabolically stagnant and polluted billabong that is Australian politics.
