A true leader’s authentic gesture of solidarity becomes the latest crass marketing ploy in the hands of the failed Tourism Executive who some people call Prime Minister.
Seeing how well Jacinda Ardern’s whole “genuine solidarity with Muslims” thing has been playing with the electorate, Scott Morrison has decided to undergo a profound spiritual transformation in the wake of the Christchurch terror attacks.
Making it clear that he will do literally anything if he thinks there’s a few votes in it, the Prime Minister has given up his treasured Pentecostalism and converted to Islam.
He’s hoping this last-minute manoeuvre before the election will help 15 million voters overlook the 120 actions he and his government took over the last 6 years to denigrate, torture, imprison and even kill Muslim refugees.
He’s also trying to force Channel 10 to scrub history 1984 style to endear himself to the electorate.
Along with his newfound faith in the prophet Muhammad, Morrison also has faith that a few tragically ironic focus-grouped tweets saying he condemns right-wing extremism and that he’ll always “protect and defend” Muslims will help push along the collective amnesia.
New Zealand, like Australia, is home to people from all faiths, cultures and backgrounds. There is absolutely no place in either of our countries for the hatred and intolerance that has bred this extremist, terrorist violence and we condemn it.

We will always protect and defend our Muslim community here in Australia and their right to peacefully practice their religion without fear. I am also disgusted by, and completely denounce, comments that seek to denigrate Muslims and Islam and will always speak out against this.

As the saying goes, a few workshopped words on Twitter speak louder than six years of government policy.
