Jones recently cracked 100,000 offensive comments but 2GB will not abide comment 100,001, depending on how many more advertisers pull out.
In the great tradition of Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, and Rosa Parks, radio station 2GB have decided to take a fierce moral position based on how much advertising revenue they are losing.
The chairman of Macquarie Media, which owns 2GB, said he had laid down the law to Jones in no uncertain terms: “Notwithstanding his apologies, I have today discussed the matter with Alan and advised him that if people keep up the pressure on advertisers and more of them pull out, this will result in the termination of his contract.”
It’s like listening to the heroes of the civil rights movement all over again.
