Trust a herbivorous marsupial to effect a bloodless leadership change.

Blinky Bill and you’ll miss some pretty extraordinary developments in Australian politics today.

As half the state of NSW watches on in gleeful schadenfreude as the cuddly koala tears the Berejiklian Government limb from limb, Labor leader Anthony Albanese has been quick to act.

Albo knows a fierce political animal when he sees one, and so it is that he will be making way for “Nutsy the Koala”, a koala joey born in WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo in March 2014.

Nutsy is known for her adorable fluffy ears and big ears, and she’s been described as a “mummy’s girl” for her love of cuddles: all traits which Albo acknowledges will make her a more ferocious political opponent than he could ever be.
