The initial announcement had Ardern taking the reins in Australia in 2023 but the international committee took a second look at Scott Morrison and said it’s effective immediately.
Australia and New Zealand have been successful in their historic joint bid to co-host a normal person as Prime Minister.
The trans-Tasman bid beat out that of Rupert Murdoch to continue hosting the Aussie PM by 22 votes to 13 early this morning.
After previous bidders Clive Palmer and Gina Rinehart each pulled out of the race in recent days, the Australian and New Zealand people were up against Murdoch alone.
The win was a sweet redemption for Australian democracy, which was handed heartbreak during the bidding process of the May 2019 election.
That process revealed layers upon layers of corruption throughout the Morrison Government but resulted in no consequences, until today.
Asked if she thought she could do a better job than Scott Morrison, Ms Ardern laughed and laughed.
