Rupert Murdoch has “pulled a Kerry Stokes”, arguing News Corp is exempt from paying tax for medical reasons.

Seeking to take up Scott Morrison’s summer title of Australia’s most hated man, billionaire Kerry Stokes was granted an exemption from mandatory hotel quarantine after returning from Aspen on a private jet. He cited “medical reasons”, presumably because doctors don’t have access to hotels. Can’t you just feel your blood boiling?

Not one to miss an opportunity, Rupert Murdoch has cited “a recent medical procedure” as the reason why News Australia paid $0 in tax on $14 billion in revenue between 2013 and 2017.

Expect all billionaires to use allergies, lower back pain, headaches, arthritis, high cholesterol, and obesity to justify their eternal exemption from civilised society from now on.
