Apparently the 40-year corporate war on every conceivable aspect of a decent society has nothing to do with it.
Despite the film not coming out yet, a new article in The Culture Wars Chronicle has conclusively proven that all social problems stem from Joaquin Phoenix’s depiction of The Joker.
The piece shows that the Global Financial Crisis, gross wealth inequality, rising unemployment, poverty, and homelessness, stagnating wages, austerity and alienation, the mental illness and suicide crises, domestic violence, the loneliness epidemic, misogyny, xenophobia and white supremacy are all a direct consequence of director Todd Phillips’ decision to portray the Joker empathetically, and definitely don’t result from patriarchal neoliberal capitalism.
According to the article, a global ban on the release of Joker should sort out the spiralling crises of late capitalism.
