The Pollie in the Studio initiative means the major parties can pay to have their portraits placed in interview seats. It’s set to be a new trial for the politicians but exactly the same trial for the viewers.

Politicians’ efforts to make political interviews a total waste of time have reached new levels with the announcement of a scheme that would allow parties to pay the media $22 for a cardboard cut-out of themselves which truly is indistinguishable from their actual self.

Now that almost any interview is merely a nauseating recitation of their team’s talking points, cardboard replacements combined with pre-recorded audio of the politician dictating these points is a real time-saver for everyone involved.

A petition for major media outlets to pipe in deafening crowd noise to drown out the talking points has now gained eight million signatures.
