Will Hillary Clinton become the first female President to cheat on her husband? Or will 85 year-old American linguist Noam Chomsky become the nation’s first revolutionary-syndicalist chief executive?
Both prospects would be truly groundbreaking for American politics. Clinton’s election would prove once and for all that women are equally capable of escalating state surveillance, drone strikes, targeted assassinations, imperialist wars, and corporate power.
On the other hand, Americans could witness a strong campaign based on the cult of Chomsky’s octogenarian personality. Music videos such as I Got a Crush...on Chomsky’s Ideas about Local Organic Communities and slogans like Yes We Can Have Worker’s Councils would take the nation by storm.
Fans of both gossip columns and anarchism are torn. Do I vote for the delicious prospect of Clinton’s vengeful infidelity with an intern named Chad? Or should I support replacing the state and private property with small democratic communities, worker self-management and a co-operative economic system?
Many will vote for Chomsky and hope he fancies Chad.
