The Federal Government is disgusted that Clive Palmer is using money to influence an election result.
Such a move goes against core Liberal beliefs. The idea that capital corrupts democracy by empowering a tiny wealthy minority offends the working class sensibilities of the conservatives.
Last year alone they staunchly refused $580,000 from Rosyln Packer, $107,000 from Phillip Morris, and $42,000 from Palmer himself, accepting only bananas, quinoa and kale as forms of political donation.
