After six years suffering torturous conditions in remote prison camps, all it took for their freedom was for refugees to promise to take part in criminal behaviour that would make money for the Government’s mates at Crown Casino.
Scott Morrison and Peter Dutton are rolling out the red carpet for hundreds of refugees currently languishing on Manus Island after they promised to engage in a wide range of criminal activity to the benefit of Crown Casino.
Notorious non-satirist Adam Bandt has taken issue with this week’s developments:
"Never again will I take a lesson from this Government about the need to stop criminals from coming into this country and the need to have tough border protection policies.
"What we hear from the Government is: 'If you're fleeing war and persecution, we'll lock you up. But if you come here with a bag of cash, we'll open the gate for you so you can go and find the drugs and gamble at the casino.'"
Fellow non-satirist Laura Tingle added:
“There is lots of talk about freedom of speech and freedom of religion abroad in politics just now. But freedom from corruption and hypocrisy would probably satisfy a lot more voters.”
Fortunately for the Liberal-Crown Government, corruption and hypocrisy are now basic human rights in Australia.
