The Prime Minister’s quest for new ways to transfer wealth from welfare recipients and workers to mining barons, polluters and billionaires continues.
While Turnbull initially thought increasing the GST to 15% was a subtler way of stealing from single mums to give to the 1% than calling it a ‘single mum tax’, the 54% of Australians who opposed the increase had other ideas.
So it’s back to the drawing board for the Prime Minister and his cronies.
Turnbull is in a tough spot. Taxing fossil fuel companies and the mega-wealthy is off the table both because it would go against the PM’s core values and also because they actually run the country.
At the same time, increasing taxes for workers is becoming difficult because it’s such transparently unjust bullshit.
Yet the PM is passionate about funnelling more wealth to the big end of town and further punishing the poor.
For this reason, expect Malcom Turnbull to use increasingly vague and obscure jargon like a “tax mix switch”, much like a “bait and switch”, to conceal his increasingly criminal ambitions.
