If Robin Hood is Dr Jekyll, Malcom Turnbull is Mr Hyde. In his speech at the opening of the Paris Summit, Prime Minister Turnbull generously offered $1 billion for the Green Climate Fund to help Pacific Islands deal cope with rising sea levels.
Sounds lovely.
Except when you find out this money is being taken from the existing foreign aid budget, which helps poor communities in developing nations.
And except when you know that the government currently spends $10 billion a year in handouts to polluters.
So Turnbull will keep paying polluters $10 billion each year to produce emissions and will take $1 billion from the world’s poor to clean up the mess created by the very industry he’s propping up with billions in subsidies.
Well, it’s official. Australia now has the most villainous climate policy in the world.
