The Fourth Estate has yet again risen to the challenge of ecological breakdown by fetishising the leadership ambitions of omnicidal maniacs.

The Australian public is breathing a sigh of relief as the media’s obsession with the Machiavellian machinations of their political captors once again trumps their fundamental responsibility to hold them to account for climate criminality.

There were concerns that Australia’s summer from hell, costing 33 deaths, 2,779 homes, 17 million hectares and over 1 billion animals, might actually lead to a bit of self-reflection from the nation’s news empires.

These fears have quickly dissipated as the country’s journalists return to what they do best, fixating on which psychopathic coal kinkster is most likely to lead Australia into the next climate catastrophe.
