A multi-national mining company marked National Sorry Day by blowing up a sacred site in Western Australia that showed 46,000 years of continual occupation and provided a 4,000-year-old genetic link to Aboriginal owners of the land.

Try to find a sentence which more succinctly, accurately, and tragically portrays Australia than that.
