Kyrgios Accuses Western Governments Of Tanking In War On Terror

Returning serve after allegations of tanking against Frenchman Richard Gasquet at Wimbledon in July this year, the Australian firebrand has found himself in more hot water after his analysis of France’s military response to the Paris attacks.

In his hot take on the War on Terror for the November edition of the Australian Tennis Magazine, Kyrgios questioned whether Western governments are even trying to defeat terrorism.

He wrote: “After fourteen years of policies clearly making terrorism much worse, you start wondering about the benefits for Western governments and corporations of continuing the War on Terror indefinitely.”

He went on:  “It’s just like when I lost the first set against Gasquet in the fourth round at Wimbledon and then gave up on the third game of the second set. Only I wasn’t creating the material conditions for the emergence of Richard Gasguet by invading Iraq. Nor was I helping him improve his groundstrokes through my allies in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.”
