The road safety magazine has taken an unexpected turn towards promotion of gun violence.

The National Roads and Motorists’ Association has capitalised on the inadvertent publicity from One Nation’s Pauline Hanson this week by shifting gears from roadside assistance, motoring advice, and car servicing into mass murder advocacy in its latest edition of Open Road magazine.

NRMA spokeswoman Jucinna O'Hearn said “Historically, Open Road has focused on car reviews, road rules, and information about how the organisation has campaigned for improved road safety. Following the bump in Twitter mentions during and after Pauline’s press conference, we’re hoping our latest issue will cater to this broader audience of gun rights activists by demonstrating total moral bankruptcy, unrelenting corruption of the democratic process, and significant responsibility for mass shootings.”

Asked for his opinion on the new approach from the NRMA, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the transformation of a road safety organisation servicing millions of Australians into a gun rights lobby group was less dangerous than Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi, who he has noticed is Muslim.
