Forget the bankrupt political ideology, the systemic corruption, the pisspoor communication, the repeated failure to heed expert warnings, and the media and opposition’s failure to hold government to account. It’s satire that’s eroding public trust in institutions.
Satirists over at The Chaser are hanging their heads in shame this morning after Prime Minister Scott Morrison singled them out as the primary cause of the public’s loss of faith in competent government.
While some had thought the complete capture of the Federal Government by the Murdoch Press and fossil fuel industry might have something to do with their prioritising of company profits ahead of public health, it turns out that it was the bloody Chaser all along.
Now it has become clear how a few jokes at the expense of the nation’s most powerful people have resulted in the kleptocratic takeover of our democracy, public trust in Palmer’s puppets and Murdoch’s minions is set to soar.
