“I hope they find the bastard.”

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has leapt to the rescue of the aged care sector with the announcement of a Royal Commission into which 2015-2018 Federal Liberal Treasurer slashed over a billion dollars of nursing home funding.

Former Federal Liberal Treasurer Scott Morrison spoke in no uncertain terms:

“We’ve had 20 inquiries into neglect and abuse of our elderly Australians, but not one of them identified the culprit. Only a Royal Commission has the investigatory powers to hunt down that Liberal Treasurer and punish him accordingly”.

Mr Morrison said the Commission’s terms of reference would include the extent of substandard care of older Australians, the challenge of supporting the increasing number of Australians suffering dementia, as well as how the Liberal Government could have the temerity to spend years undermining the sector, as far back as John Howard’s Aged Care Act in 1997, and then pretend it’s taking bold action to address the very problems it’s responsible for.
