They all bloody love cricket.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has made no secret of his admiration for former Prime Minister John Howard. What is less well known is his equally fervent enthusiasm for the leadership of Russian Tsar Nicholas II and King Louis XVI of France.
In an exclusive interview with Situation Theatre, Mr Morrison said “Nicholas II’s reign was characterised by more than two decades of economic collapse, crop failures, military defeats, the execution of dissidents and the denial of reforms. I’ve still got some work to do if I want to live up to his legacy.”
He added “I really like how Louis XVI was popular initially but then quickly became reviled for his weakness. I also like how everyone in France blamed him for failing harvests, saw him as a parasite living luxuriously at the expense of ordinary people, and evolved into the most hated figure in French history. As you can see from my handling of the bushfire crisis, I learnt most of what I know about leadership from the great French King.”
Mr Morrison closed out the interview by saying “I’m most of the way through the biographies of both men. I’m not sure how their stories ended, but I’m guessing well.”
