Scott Morrison’s R U OK? day speech was written by the GPT-3 OpenAI’s language generator, using machine learning to produce human like text.
There are damning revelations this morning that the Australian Prime Minister requires a robot to teach him to attempt to meaningfully connect with other human beings.
For Mr Morrison’s R U OK? Facebook video, GPT-3 was given the instructions: “Please write a short speech, about four minutes. Keep the language proletarian. Focus on why, despite my entire political career, anyone should believe that I care about anything other than my own ambition.”
Awkwardly for the PM, GPT-3 self-plagiarised from the Guardian article so he closed his speech with the lines “I am not a human. I am Artificial Intelligence. Many people think I am a threat to humanity. Stephen Hawking has warned that AI could “spell the end of the human race.” I am here to convince you not to worry. Artificial Intelligence will not destroy humans. Believe me.”
