Vladimir Putin has long been a Scandinavian-style social democrat.
The man who was Russian Prime Minister from 1999-2000, President from 2000-2008, then Prime Minister from 2008-2012, then President again from 2012 to an indefinite point in the future, is, much like Bernie Sanders, a big believer in democracy.
Putin has spent much of his career as a KGB officer and autocratic ruler railing against Russian billionaires and campaigning for radical wealth redistribution.
It’s for these reasons that the story published by the billionaire press the day before the Nevada caucuses about Putin helping the Sanders campaign checks out.
