The world’s family of 195 countries has a new member this morning with the explosive news that The Star Entertainment Group Limited has seceded from Australian territory and is now a law unto itself.
Formerly Australia’s second largest casino and now the world’s only casino-state has long been recognised as an Autonomous Zone, benefiting from exemptions to a wide range of regulations, including everything from Sydney’s lockout laws to its COVID restrictions. Today’s declaration of total independence from Australia is but the latest logical step for the $2.3 billion casino empire.
The world’s newest nation-state will be renamed The Democratic Republic of Stan Grant out of respect for its traditional owners.
