The one million fish who have died as a direct result of NSW government policy have collectively expressed gratitude for the Premier’s advocacy for new Sydney stadiums.
The rotting fish carcasses understand the way economics works: the government donates as much public money as politically possible to the corporate sector to subsidise the lifestyles of the rich and famous and eventually this money trickles down into critically endangered river systems.
According to Maryanne Slattery, senior water researcher at the Australia Institute, “It is clear what has caused the Darling River fish kill – mismanagement and repeated policy failure”.
According to the NSW Government, what has really caused the massive Darling River fish kills was insufficient investment in the buffet selection for the wealthiest guests of Allianz Stadium.
