It’s a heady mix of schadenfreude and fulfilled wet dreams. The Liberal and Labor Parties have incurred catastrophic losses in a landslide victory for The Greens. Tony Abbott has lost his seat of Warringah to Wiradjuri elder Jenny Munro, while calmly-spoken hottie Scott Ludlam is now Prime Minister. In one of many signals indicating this will be a new era for Australian politics, Ludlam has announced he will be job sharing the Prime Ministership with Senator Larissa Waters.
ABC analyst Antony Green has analysed the results and confirmed Ludlam has been rewarded for delivering such an awesome line in a speech to Parliament ‘welcoming’ Tony Abbott to his home state: 'you are welcome to take your heartless, racist exploitation of people’s fears and ram it as far from Western Australia as your taxpayer funded travel entitlements can take you'.
With a clean sweep of both houses of Parliament, the election victory ushers in a period of what many are clumsily calling ‘Whitlam 2.0 minus support for Indonesia’s invasion of East Timor’. Ludlam and Waters have already announced these top ten goals for the first 100 days in office:
After two decades of stumbling from one short-sighted, morally bankrupt public policy to another, citizens are euphoric that Australia finally has its vision back.
