$12 billion in annual fossil fuel subsidies under threat as a widespread tax boycott denies the industry the funds they need to survive.

Australia’s favourite planet-burning industry is at imminent risk of collapse as millions of Australians have decided not to pay their taxes this year due to their tiny individual contribution to overall tax revenue.

The tax boycott campaign went viral after a satirical TV personality, Callum Groans, used an irrefutable visual metaphor of a bowl of rice to dismiss the absurd notion that citizens paying their taxes was important.

“If this one-and-three-quarter kilo bowl of rice represents total tax take, then my tax contribution is but a single grain. Staggering. And who’s swallowing this stuff? I mean this is the hoax,” the ridiculous character said.
