The fact our boys have given us so much to cheer about is immunity in itself.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has abandoned the health sector emergency plan for Covid-19 in favour of a very reassuring tweet about the protection afforded by the quality of cricket this summer.

“It’s been a great summer of cricket, and for our doctors and nurses in hospitals across the country, I’m sure our boys have given them something to cheer for”, Mr Morrison tweeted, along with a picture of him and captain Steve Smith, both noticeably without coronavirus.

Now that the tweet is out, the Morrison Government has cancelled emergency contingency plans for enforced quarantining of known infectious patients, the closure of schools, cessation of public transport and orders to work from home.

Reassuringly, the PM is already preparing his follow up tweet which should knock coronavirus for six: “How good was David Warner’s 100 not out against Sri Lanka at Adelaide Oval?”.
