Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has egg on his face and coal workers’ pneumoconiosis in his lungs after spending too much time tending to the lump of coal given to him by Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
The more health conscious journalists in the press gallery have had concerns about our Federal Ministers for some time, given their prolonged exposure to the particulates of coal lobbying.
Until now the existential dangers of fossil fuels were a funny joke to our nation’s leaders, provoking little actual feeling but for the kind of maniacal laughter which makes the Joker blush.
Since Frydenberg’s diagnosis he’s been the butt of some fairly brutal teasing on Twitter. The Treasurer says jokes about the lethal threat of fossil fuels are only funny when they’re at the expense of Pacific Islanders.
