Why the name “Shoe & A” hasn’t stuck is anyone’s guess.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the day Peter Gray launched one shoe for the Iraqi dead and one shoe for the Iraqi living at former Prime Minister John Howard.

In the spirit of erecting monuments to those who challenge imperialist white supremacy instead of those who impose it, a giant shoe now sits outside ABC’s Ultimo studios to remind everyone of the time a former Prime Minister was asked whether he’d go to the International Criminal Court to accept responsibility for atrocities in Iraq.

Anniversaries are coming up of the time Bob Brown heckled George Bush, the time eggboy crushed an egg on Fraser Anning’s head, and the many times no one wanted to shake Scott Morrison’s hand, so expect yet more statues soon.
