Skipping your stakeholders' big dinner would just be rude.
For their impressive 18th backflip in seven months, the Turnbull government has decided to postpone the May 3 budget due to an unforseen clash with an extravagant mining industry piss-up.
The government has said pleasing mining donors is critical to the economic growth of the Liberal party.
Explaining the change, the PM paraphrased economist Milton Friedman when he said “The social responsibility of government is to increase fossil fuel profits.”
When told that Friedman was speaking about business, Mr Turnbull was confused about the difference.
Treasurer Scott Morrison is yet to be informed of the date change.
