Some people say billionaires, mega-rich multinationals and fossil fuel companies should pay their fair share of tax for extracting great wealth from this country.
Some people say mining taxes, carbon taxes and company taxes are common sense ways to fund essential infrastructure, ensure a strong social safety net and build this nation’s future.
Some people say governments should reform the tax system in the interests of the 23 million people these politicians are supposed to represent, rather than large foreign and domestic corporations and the 1% of Australians they actually do represent.
Not Scott Morrrison.
For him the much wiser and more efficient play is to punish the poor by increasing a regressive tax like the GST.
Who better to fund the government's $10 billion a year in fossil fuel subsidies than a single Mum buying party hats for her daughter's 6th birthday?
