“We’re committed to punishing those organisations serially committing the most egregious crimes in the country: unions.”

The Treasurer of a Government which voted against a banking royal commission 26 times and which sought to pass $39.5 billion in tax cuts for the big four banks, has come out hard against Westpac for accountability failings which may have facilitated child exploitation, saying there should be some “tough conversations”.

The Treasurer added that if the Government had some kind of power or control over lawmaking in this country in recent years, perhaps they could have done something to prevent it, but unfortunately this was not to be.

Mr Frydenberg said “As a result of the accusations of 23 million legal breaches of anti-money laundering and counter-terror finance laws, the legislative priority for this Government must be our union-busting “Ensuring Integrity Bill”, which we hope to ram through the Parliament this fortnight.”
