There’s nothing quite like having 456 toilet paper rolls in your house for no reason to prove Manson’s point.
Back in 2002, Marilyn Manson succinctly explained how the media works to Michael Moore in the film Bowling for Columbine: ”you’re watching the news, you’re being pumped full of fear, there’s floods, there’s AIDS, there’s murder, cut to commercial…it’s this campaign of fear and consumption. Keep everyone afraid, and they’ll consume.”
Manson is most famous for his albums Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals, as well as being the main cause of all of America’s social problems between 1996 and 2005.
He is currently in Australia on tour and according to conservatives, the timing of the bushfires, coronavirus, and his arrival in the country, is a bit suss.
Manson spoke to Situation Theatre about the Cottonelle Crisis gripping Australia:
“I’m from the United States, the global leader in fervent, fearful, and futile consumption. But having spent the last three days on a frantic search for 3-ply, this is some next level shit.”
