Praise be to a man who almost did his job for an entire press conference.
Canberra’s journalists have bent their heads in collective prayer to their new God Scott Morrison, who almost managed 15 consecutive minutes of leadership at a recent coronavirus presser.
The media were in adoration of this saintly figure who managed to give an entire speech which seemed to do slightly more than just aggressively list his achievements. He didn’t even threaten to knife any journalist who asked him a question about them.
As Morrison drew his remarks to a close, the press gallery banded together in a stirring rendition of “Mine Eyes Have Seen The Glory”:
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
His truth is marching on.
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Our God is marching on.
