Turns out a man with more than a decade’s experience shilling for fossil fuels can sell death like no-one else, but can’t promote life to save himself.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has come under heavy fire from the community for his confusing communication, inadequate public education, and slow, haphazard, reactive crisis management.
The fact that the Government which bungled the bushfires, citizenship, census, Christmas Island, drought, energy policy, leadership, the Murray-Darling, the NBN, the Great Barrier Reef and Robo-debt is also bungling the management of coronavirus and associated economic impacts comes as no surprise to many.
Some had hoped that at the very least, Morrison’s clear and consistent marketing of fossil fuels would transfer to clear and consistent public health messaging, but even that was far too much to expect.
It seems when you specialise in self-promotion and marketing to cover up state capture, corruption, cronyism, and negligence, communicating honestly to protect other people doesn’t come so naturally.
