Australians have begun to calm down from their collective panic attack now that the New Zealand Prime Minister has taken the reins.
In a vanishingly rare but welcome moment of self-insight, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has recognised the scale of the coronavirus crisis and handed power to someone who can actually complete a coherent, meaningful sentence.
In an interview reminiscent of Mal Meninga’s 15 second political career, Mr Morrison started by saying that he had this massive economic and public health crisis under total control, and finished by saying he actually had no idea what he was doing and that Jacinda Ardern is our new Prime Minister.
While some are concerned that handing the fate of the nation to a Kiwi is a dangerous disregard of the Australian people’s will, others retort that John Howard, Tony Abbott, Malcolm Turnbull, and Scott Morrison are at least four good reasons why we can’t have nice things like democracy.
