Morrison says he has acknowledged the impact of volcanoes on volcanic eruptions “all year”, despite explicitly stating the opposite three weeks ago.
Following the national tragedy of the White Island eruption and associated loss of life, Scott Morrison has bowed to community concern and also reality by admitting there might be some link between New Zealand volcanoes and New Zealand volcano eruptions.
His brave demonstration that he is still in some small way tethered to the real world by saying in a press conference today that he’s recognised the link “all year” comes as a surprise to those with eyes and ears who are pretty sure they heard him say the opposite in late November.
The PM moved to bring a sense of calm to this national emergency, saying that “it’s important Australians focus on coming together and not seeking to drive issues of conflict at a time when we all need each other.”
He closed the press conference by reminding everyone of a few other links he’s brave enough to acknowledge, including those between refugees, rape and paedophilia, Africans and gangs, as well as Muslims, environmentalists and terrorism.
