With Ocasio-Cortez expected to win in a landslide and govern for 8 years, for almost the entire 2020s democratic socialists will run the most influential nation on the planet.
In the U.S. they’ve been feeling the Presidential Bern for nearly 3 years. Far surpassing the best reforms of Franklin D. Roosevelt and JFK, President Bernie Sanders has spent every waking moment since his inauguration in January 2021 implementing his much-vaunted political revolution.
So far Bernie has helped enact Medicare-for-all, a $15 minimum wage and a Green New Deal including a pledge to make the US 100% renewable by 2030. He’s used high office to help make public colleges and universities tuition-free, massively expand social security and make huge investments in infrastructure. He’s also spearheaded significant immigration and prison reform, pushed for radical changes to the U.S. tax system to address wealth inequality and led an even more radical shift towards a dovish U.S. foreign policy.
Political pundits have observed that this kind of social democratic programme in the world’s most influential state is a critical checkpoint in the inevitable transition to fully fledged global socialism.
Having achieved so much and now 82 years of age, Bernie has just announced he is ready to hand over the mantle to the first female, Hispanic, millennial President of the United States, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Barred from running in 2020 due the constitutional provision about being at least 35, the young movement leader is now eligible because she will turn 35 one month before the 2024 election.
Ocasio-Cortez is expected to win a landslide victory in the 2024 election against the corpse of Republican nominee Charles Manson and then govern for 8 years. As a result, between Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez and Prime Minister Jeremy Corbyn, the 2020s are expected to do for socialism what the 2010s did for fascism.
