“Let’s not focus on who started indefinite detention, who set up the concentration camp on Manus, nor who has subsequently backed the Government on almost every crucial plank of this torture regime. The important thing is that one of the victims of bipartisan cruelty is free, and we wish him all the best.”
Labor’s Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Kristina Keneally, has generously welcomed the news that a man who her party has been complicit in torturing for 6 years is now free and safe from them in New Zealand.
In a press release, Ms Keneally said “We look forward for Mr Boochani having the opportunity to resettle in a third country, so long as he stays the hell away from the Australian mainland.”
Such a rediclilius and unacceptable statement by Labor Party. You exiled me to Manus and you have supported this exile policy for years. I don't need you to welcome resttlement for me in a third country. https://t.co/XHIBCcrUQY

“It is clear Australia can have strong borders without being weak on humanity, just as soon as we get an Opposition Party which can actually stand up to the Government.”
